The sun was shining when I crawled out of bed this morning. The snow from yesterday was almost gone and it is a bright and beautiful day. It is also December 21, 2012, the day the world was supposed to end according to the Mayan calendar, or so it was believed. Some may say “well the day isn’t over yet” but in Viet Nam, Australia, India, the Mariana Islands and China among many other places it is December, 22, 2012 and that part of the world did not end.
If you read the Bible correctly, what most people refer to as the end of the world will not happen until Jesus has taken up his faithful. Because of the way it reads, I do not believe the planet, itself, will be completely destroyed because Jesus will return to rule over it for a thousand years.
We, the human race, mankind, have already done much damage to the planet God supplied us to live on. There will be upheavals, fire and other devastating effects and storms, meant to destroy the unbelievers and evil doers that are left behind. There is a lot that still has to happen before this comes about.
Over the centuries, we have turned from Bible prophecy to scientific research for our answers. No matter how many scientists, archeologists, self-mad prophets or leaders predict the date for the world to end, it will only end when God tells Jesus “go get your children”.
If you have accepted Jesus as your savior, if he lives within your heart, if you live every day the way he has prescribed, then you will not be sitting here, on this earth, when the destruction begins.
I don’t put any faith in any predictions about the end of the world. I am comforted to know where I will be. I am not a perfect person, not a perfect Christian, but I know what I believe it, who I believe in, and do the best I can to live each day in the way he has said we should. Put your faith in what you don’t see but know is there!! “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18)”
There will be no warning, there will be no physical signs that will show in what moment, in what hour, on what day in which year that Jesus will return and the earth, as we know it will be destroyed.
